The Charming Little Town of Malacca

I have always loved the bucolic country life where everything is so simple. No people hurrying about to get to work and no one rushing to the bus stop or the train station. Everyone is just enjoying life at a leisurely pace. I am not sure if it was because we visited Malacca on a weekend or if people there are just less frazzled and bothered but one thing is evident, they surely know how to live and enjoy life and they have some of the best food I have ever tasted in Malaysia.

Malacca is a charming little town. As a matter of fact, it is the most charming little town I have visited so far. There is a palpable feeling of relaxation and just being carefree, luxuries which you cannot afford when you live in a metropolis. Dubbed “The Historical State” because of its long and sometimes bloody history, Malacca is simply gorgeous.

Malacca offer history buffs a list of places which are a must-see and must-visit.  The best part about going there is that the area is small and two days and a night are enough to cover what is significant about the entire town but should you need more time to savor its exquisiteness, three days would be more than adequate.

One of the highlights to any trip to Malacca is the river cruise at night. The canals look very nice at night with all the lights and the quaint little hotels and buildings by the side of the river. There are numerous restaurants where couples eat by candle light, as well as drink wine. Perhaps they also think about their past, the places they have been, and the future where they are heading.

If you are a food connoisseur, you will be very happy to know that there is one long street in Malacca where you can find various dishes which will truly delight your heart. You can find Western, Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes and your fill without breaking the bank.

The trip to Malacca filled my senses. It taught me a little history lesson, allowed me to explore great food and gave me the chance to destress myself.
