Imagine being in Hogwarts and partaking of a feast with Hagrid, Harry Potter, Hermione, Ron and Professor Dumbledore. Well, we really didn’t get to do that but what we had was pretty close. Ho Chi Minh is home to the Thị Trấn Ba Cây Chổi or Three Broomstown Cafe in Vista Walk. The place was magical and I must say something very unusual for a cafe.
Being there not only felt like being in Hogwarts but also being in the workshop of little elves with all the paint, books and other knick knacks. I give the owners credit for thinking creatively and bringing a piece of Hogwarts to life by way of their cafe. I was expecting magical creatures to suddenly materialize out of nowhere and shower us with pixie dust.
The cafe was not yet open when we arrived on a Sunday so we waited outside. When one of the staff saw us, he asked us to come in even though they were not yet officially opened. A few minutes after they opened, a bunch of children and their parents came in and tiny tots started playing on the slides; painting; and just running around and shrieking in delight.
Although there was nothing exceptional about the food, the service was impeccable. The Vietnamese are just, naturally, a very friendly people and would go out of their way to ensure that guests are taken care of.
